How can I count the number of pages in my site?
After you've entered the site, the Site Control page has a Count button available if the site is not currently checking. Checking starts automatically when a site is entered, so if you want a count before the first check, just STOP the check and COUNT.
Why did LinkAlarm report finding only one page in my site?
If you entered the site with a URL ending in a specific page, only that page will be checked. To check the whole site, enter a URL for the top of the site.
If your site redirects the URL of your site to a specific starter page, enter both the starter page and the base URL in the Site Control : Checking Limits
If you want to check every page below a specific directory, say
http://site.com/directory/
but your server does not return a page with that URL, use the full URL of your starting page on the Site Control : Checking Limits
http://site.com/directory/starthere.html
and put in an additional Site URL of
http://site.com/directory/
Does LinkAlarm check links to my site from other sites?
What's your Federal Taxpayer ID?
Can I wire transfer payment directly to your account?
Yes. Please contact us for this information using the Help Desk.
How can I get Auto Billing working on my account?
Automatic billing can be enabled following a successful credit card transaction. When you use the order form in your account to purchase more pages, you can specify the frequency of automatic billing. Once your transaction is complete, our Billing Department will contact you to confirm your Auto Billing settings.
Do you accept PayPal?
Not yet, but the payment service provider we use (Verisign) was recently acquired by PayPal, so we'll be integrating our online billing services with PayPal in the future.
How long does it take to check?
Unfortunately, there's no way LinkAlarm can determine how long it will take because it doesn't know how many pages and links are in the site. All sites are different. The checking time taken depends on the speed of your server and how many links point to internal and external sites.
Checking will time out after seven days, and you'll receive an email telling you this.
If LinkAlarm finds its way into a circularly linked part of your website, say a calendar or database, it can waste alot of effort checking "pages" that have already been checked. You can use LinkAlarm's Ignore feature to stop it getting to these areas.
LinkAlarm used up all my credits!
No problem. Sometimes, through a misconfigured relative link or the addition of a new technology on your site, LinkAlarm will get lost on your site and use up all your credits. If this happens, just contact our Help Desk and we'll refund the credits and see what happened.
Is the price one cent per page per month?
No, the price is one cent per page, every time you get LinkAlarm to check. You can specify Automatic Checking as often as you like, and LinkAlarm will reduce the credit in your account for every page checked.
