Checking Limits
Define the scope of what's checked for your report.
Site URLs. Each LinkAlarm report can be set to check any number of pages on your site, and is flexible to include additional pages, directories and other sites.
LinkAlarm considers all the pages listed in Site URLs to be "internal" to the site being checked. It follows every link to an internal page, gathering the links to be checked.
To check an entire site, just enter the URL.
Entering http://www.myhost.com will check all pages of the site that can be reached from the top.
Entering http://www.myhost.com/index.html will check only the first page of this site.
If your site is located on different servers, you can extend LinkAlarm's check to include other domains, pages and other directories.
For example, if your web site is at http://www.myhost.com and you have some of your content on a server at http://www2.myhost.com/, adding http://www2.myhost.com will check all the links on those pages too. If you didn't have the additional Site URL, LinkAlarm would verify all the links TO the second server, but would NOT gather all the links on all the pages of the second server.
Use Site URLs to limit checking to specific pages or directories. If the site you're testing is in two directories on the same server, and you don't want to check the whole server, specify the Site URLs as http://www.myhost.com/deeper/one/ and http://www.myhost.com/deepest/two/.
Additional Pages. If your site uses links in non-standard places (JavaScript navigation handlers, ActiveX controls, Flash etc) and LinkAlarm is not finding all the pages in your site, create a site index page of links to the areas of your site. Add the URL of your site index to the checking limits.
Maximum Pages. Enter the number of pages to check. During checking, LinkAlarm will stop attempting to find new pages and continue to verify the links it has found. The report notification will tell you the page limit was reached.
Use this feature to test your report. You might want to make sure your Ignore Settings are working as expected. When ready, remove the Maximum Pages setting to check the whole site.
