Our Web Refresh

Our web team has refurbished all our disparate sites into this shiny new portal. There are many changes for our LinkAlarm customers, focussing on better usability for getting the job done.


Tidy Up


We've remodelled our old public website, the user's guide and web forums into a new single site with cleaner navigation and updated information.

Over the past six years many of our customers have placed our images and links on their sites, so it's been important to keep those links valid, working as before.

This new content management system (Plone) lets us maintain our own sites better, getting update information online much faster than before.

What's New/Changed?


Moving into the new century from the dotcom days, we've changed the nomenclature of the service in a few places. We appreciate the feedback we've received from our customers and these small changes make the whole service easier to grasp for newcomers to LinkAlarm.

  • Your old "Membership" is now your "Account".
  • You no longer buy "points", but now just credit your account with "pages".

We've spent a lot of effort making changes inside our checking engine software, making this part of the service more efficient - especially on large, complex sites. This means faster turnaround when you hit the CHECK button, and more efficient hardware utilisation on our servers.

Minor tweaks have been made on the reports.  A few bugs fixed.

The Account Center where you manage your sites has new features too:

  • Account History shows your past orders
  • Specify Auto Billing on the order form
  • PDF Order Form
  • Account Logo and Message is easier to apply to your reports
  • Site Control : Auto Checking now has a "not before" setting to delay check start times
  • Better navigation all round
  • Removal of banners, affilliate program, sponsorships and other 90's stuff.

We've had to tighten up some of our external interfaces to the world too.  As a business that sends out vast numbers of emails on a regular basis we're saddend that email is plagued by spam and scammers. As a result, you can no longer just reply to our report notification emails. We're still interested in solving any issues, you'll just have to initiate correspondence using our Help Desk.

For the same reasons, we've discontinued our email newsletter and will announce any service changes in your Account center and report notification emails.

We're a dotcom survivor thanks to our customers. Over the past years we've gained insight into what you expect and how you want a service like LinkAlarm to operate. LinkAlarm is a great service now, but we're not finished yet because there are many great suggestions to be implemented.  Keep them coming.
